Käpelle

Location: Germany

Be prepared, this is a rather sportive tour. Starting in Karlsruhe the track goes south along the Rhine valley to Gaggenau and Gernsbach in the valley of the Murg river. From Gernsbach you start to climb up the hills of the black forest towards the Käpelle which is a small chapel and a road house on the divide between Murg and Alb. Just before you reach the top, you turn right towards the Teufelsmühle. If you really want a challenging ride you can climb to the top of the mountain (above 900m); if this has been good enough for you, you pass a old place called Plotzsägmühle. It has been a water mill for sawing wood, now it is a small inn running by an old, funny man. Good place for cake, a coffee or a beer in the afternoon.

From then on it’s a great fun to ride, all the way back to Karlsruhe goes slight downwards along the Alb river.
