Kalkspitze

To start this mountain hike, you have to take a bus or your car through a very small, dirt road up to the Urpsrungsalm. From this place you follow the tracks to the 2 lakes – Giglachsee – and turning right you start to climb up to the 2 peaks of the Kalkspitze. Just below the peaks you have to decide which side you want to go – the northern top is called the Steirische Kalkspitze, the southern is the Lungauer Kalkspitze. It is not very difficult to get to one of the peaks, although the northern peak has one pretty steep climb. On the top you have a magnifient view to the Alps, especially the Dachstein.
